The objectives of SQLbus/RT project is Real Time Publish Subscribe SQL. This project enables SQL in a real time environment where senders (publishers) and recipients (subscribers) are loosely coupled, with adjustable real time constraints and provisions.

SQLBusRT will be built upon two existing open source projects, the well known MySQL database and the OCERA ORTE Real Time Publish Subscribe protocol implementation.

To reach above objectives, the SQL syntaxis need to be extended, the connection type to the database will be a publish subsribe model with loosely coupling, and the database engine must be able to prioritize queries.

SQL is not realtime, and it cannot be. However, in controlled circumstances (known type of queries and table sizes) it can be. Therefore the SQLbusRT model will contains provisions for measuring performance and deadlines. Clients will be informed when a query execution time exceeds timing deadlines.
